Overview

The fundamentals of medicine curriculum serves as a pre-requisite training for medical coding for individuals who do not have a strong background in medical anatomy, medical terminology and pathophysiology. This course is unique in that it was designed specifically for medical coders to give them the necessary terminology, physiology and anatomy concepts needed for medical coding and billing activities, instead of clinical activities.

The medical coding course teaches how to translate services and diagnoses using the correct application of ICD-10-AM codes, ACHI procedure codes, SBS billing standards, and AR-DRG for coding and billing medical claims in the inpatient and outpatient settings.

Participants who successfully complete this course will be eligible to take AAPC’s credentialing exam to obtain the professional credential of CCP.
